Walk for Wellness House in honor of Jay Gonzales, a cancer survivor
Dear Family and Friends,
This year, I am raising money for the Walk for Wellness House in honor of my spouse, Jay Gonzales, a cancer survivor. During the fall of 2015, Jay was diagnosed with colon cancer after battling months of stomach pains. Jay underwent surgery to remove the blockage from his colon and was hospitalized for almost 30 days. After recovering from the surgery, Jay started his chemotherapy treatment with Dr. Sotos. I'll have to admit Jay was not in favor of chemotherapy as his form of treatment. Despite his hesitancy, Jay was able to endure and fight through the side effects of chemotherapy for 6 months. As the treatment progressed, Jay became very tired and experienced neuropathy in his fingers and toes, which he was told would be a side-effect of the treatment.
Currently, Jay has his routine check-ups every 3 months with Dr. Sotos and so far, Jay is progressing well. He often reflects back and considers himself lucky to have survived it. My company is huge supporter of the Wellhouse House and every year raises money for this great organization. This year, I would like to dedicate my support to the Wellness House for Jay and would like for you to do the same. I know that cancer can feel overwhelming, for patients and their families. It can be confusing and frightening. Fortunately, when it comes to living with cancer, Wellness House is there.
The welcoming, encouraging feeling starts the moment you walk in the door. They aren’t located in a hospital or an office building. Rather, they are in a warm, friendly home in a neighborhood where you will find caring people with the expertise and eagerness to help. Their hope is that people will feel less alone, more informed, and more empowered to take on the challenge of facing cancer.
With support groups, exercise and nutrition classes, social events, and much, much more, Wellness House is designed to give back the strength, community, and control that cancer can take away. Since you can’t put a price on these things, they don’t either - there’s absolutely no charge for all of the programs and services that they offer.
This cause is very important to our family, and I hope you will join me by making a donation in honor and support of Jay Gonzales, who courageously survived chemotherapy and IS CANCER FREE TODAY!!
