Welcome to My Personal Page
Dear Family and Friends,
As a former wellness house participant I have supported Wellness House since 2005 when I was 1st diagnosed with Breast Cancer. They were my life raft in the Cancer storm. I will forever be grateful of the support and family like camaraderie for the rest of my life.
Wellness House started because there was a huge need for somewhere to go when you were first diagnosed, those months of treatment and most importantly, the "what now" feelings the day your Doctor said "we've finished your treatment, now we'll see if it worked".
That was the scariest time of my life. Knowing I had Cancer and hoping it wouldn't come back. It's an emotional rollercoaster.
I heard about Wellness House from my daughter who lived in Colorado. She was a nurse and had somehow heard about the work they were doing for Cancer patients and their families to get them through the "what now " years.
How could I have prevented this?
What should I do now?
Does everyone have these feelings of helplessness?
Wellness House answered those questions and many more I hadn't thought to ask.
I will be forever grateful for meeting everyone who worked there but most of all, the friendships I made there and continue to have these many years afterwards.
After many years of wondering how this happened to me.
I got my answer this past August when it was brought to my attention and to my friends and family in Willowbrook that a company, a mere three blocks from my home of 40yrs, had been spewing a human carcinogen, Ethylene Oxide, into the air I breathed for the last 35 yrs.
To say it was a shock is an understatement.
I now knew some of the reason why this might have happened and it made me sad.
I also realized why so many of my neighbors were also sick, not to mention the reason many of these Cancer Centers were cropping up all around Willowbrook and its neighboring communities.
That is why my team is walking to raise money to help fund Wellness House. We know that because of what we learned in August, there will be a great need in our area to help those who have or had Cancer in the coming years.
Come join me in Celebrating another year Cancer Free!
Those of you who know me will tell you how much this organization helped and supported me through my journey to Survivorship.
I am now a THRIVING SURVIVOR.
I highly recommend that you tell anyone who is going through or supporting someone who is going through this terrible disease, about Wellness House where everything is FREE!
Getting a cancer diagnosis can be stressful for the patient, their family, and friends. They just want to feel better –– and that may be its own challenge.
That’s where Wellness House can help. They're here to meet those needs –– to listen, teach, guide, and empower. They take a psychosocial approach to healing, accounting for all aspects that impact how people affected by cancer are doing, beyond medical care. There’s no right or wrong, just what works for the patient, family and friends.
Wellness House has been doing this important work for more than 25 years. They are able to offer these critical services, at no cost to those affected by cancer, thanks to generous support from donors.
This cause is very important to me, and I hope you will join me by making a donation.
