When I was first diagnosed with Breast Cancer I felt lost. I have a very caring and loving family and friends. I just felt I needed someone or something that would help me understand what I had to do to get through this. My older sister found the Wellness House for me. She set up an appointment for a tour. (Thank you Gloria). When we arrived the gentleman at the front desk welcomed us with open arms. He took us from one room to another room. I knew this was the place for me. A Certified Counselor that had support group meetings for me, my family and caregivers. A Certified Nurse that could answer any questions or concerns you might have. A Fitness Center to help you stay active. Cooking classes that show you how to eat healthier. A room of books for you to read in and multiple brochures of different cancers and treatment, very informative. A room for fitting a wig to be prepared for the hair lose during chemo treatments. (Thank you Raquel Welch, Kansas City Bombers). A room to show you how to draw your eye brows in case you should lose your facial hair. (Thank you to all the companies for the make-up). I also joined the Imerman Angels a support group that mentors other individuals that have the same or similar cancer. I have mentored 5 individuals, I still stay in touch with them, its like our own little family. This was my way of giving back. Thank you to the Wellness House for being the one place that had everything you needed to get you through one of the most difficult times of your life. Thank you to all who donate year after year to help the Wellness House be a better place for all who enter.
