Flo Appel's Wellness House Personal Page
Dear Family & Friends,
Many of you know that I was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2017, and my life was turned upside down. I was faced with a lot of tough decisions, a myriad of doctors, and a number of surgeries. I am fortunate to have good health insurance and financial security, so that I am able to focus on getting healthy and stronger. I realize that everyone who has been affected by cancer cannot say that. I am doing well! But it really does take a village....
In May, I attended a rally to save healthcare in our country and met a woman who had a Wellness House sticker on her car. We started talking, and I learned that there was a community of compassionate, committed, expert professionals and volunteers who I could look to to help me through my new reality. I have benefited so much from the Wellness House's educational, nutrition and exercise classes, and have connected with other people living with and dealing with the challenges of cancer. Sometimes I feel like the Wellness House is the only place that I can relax and feel sane.
There is no charge for any Wellness House services, so I am particularly moved to participate in the worthy cause of raising money to support their excellent programs. Here is what they have to say about their work:
No matter how someone has been affected by cancer — maybe they've been diagnosed, have a family member who’s living with cancer, or are a caregiver — everyone is welcome at Wellness House. There, they can learn new skills, get information, and join others when taking classes, practice healthful living, reduce stress, and more. All Wellness House programs and services are led by experts, designed to help participants feel better, at no cost to patients and their families. They offer more than 300 programs every month!
Everything Wellness House does is to prepare and empower people to fully live life with cancer and beyond.
Wellness House has been doing this important work for more than 28 years. They are able to offer these critical services, at no cost to those affected by cancer, thanks to generous support from donors.
This cause is very important to me, and I hope you will join me by making a donation. Any amount is welcome!
