Welcome to My Personal Page
In May of 2017, I was diagnosed with stage 3 esophageal cancer which extended to my lymph nodes. Never having any illness or hospitalization in my 51 years, I was shocked and terrified. As my tumor was inoperable, I went through very aggressive chemo and radiation last summer, and Wellness House was there by my side through it all.
Ironically, several years back, a friend had asked me to walk with her for Wellness House and to raise money for her team. I was happy to do so, never thinking I would be visiting there in the future for my own cancer diagnosis. I just thought to myself, "what a worthy cause". Little did I know what they really have to offer.
Today, I have been blessed with an army of loved ones and supportive friends, but having others who know first hand what it means to have a cancer diagnosis is more comforting than anything I could have imagined.
I'll be sober 18 years in June, so group support is no stranger to me. The cancer support group which I attend weekly at Wellness House is a very important staple in my recovery. While I have been cleared of cancer for now, I know what a diagnosis of cancer means long-term, and I continue to be hopeful, but realistic. I stick close to those that empower me, and make it a point to be there for others in need when I can.
Wellness House has been doing great work for almost 3 decades now. The programs are extensive and free to all in need of the center. I'd be so grateful if you would make a donation to my page as I walk to raise money for this worthy cause. Thank you for your consideration, and God Bless. Best, Cara
