Welcome to My Personal Page
Welcome to My Personal Page for Team "Marv"elouSF2
Team "Marv"elouSF2 was formed in honor of 2 truly amazing Fathers.....Marvin Piasecki & Sal Ferrara. Both men loved life, and especially their family. We are walking in their honor this year! We are walking to celebrate these two who fought the fight to the best of their ability, never complained, and never gave up.
Whatever you elect to do on June 28th, whether it be to walk with your family, share some time with friends, or even just smile at the sky and thank Marv for the amazing memories he has given you, know that you are making a difference in someone's life!
Given our current situation, I am not asking for anything but the act of a kind gesture or word in honor of our Dads.
Having witnessed both my parents battle cancer, I have seen the physical, emotionally and psychological affects it has on a patient and their family. Wellness House offers support in all these areas and, most importantly, at no charge. I feel that Wellness House is a beacon of light when a person is diagnosed with cancer. Hearing the positive stories from participants truly touches my heart and makes me feel so proud of all Wellness House has to offer. No one should have to take on the journey of coping with cancer alone, that's where Wellness House can help. My Mother, who is a 22-year breast cancer survivor, is a volunteer at the Wig Boutique. Seeing her joy and hearing her stories of gratification by "giving back" encouraged me to become even more involved with Wellness House. I am so honored to be a part of this life-changing organization.
Months ago, when I was asked to co-chair the walk, I never imagined we would be dealing with a pandemic that has changed many gatherings and events around the world. I am amazed at how the incredible staff and volunteers at Wellness House have adapted to the virtual aspect of their programs. Although I have participated in the walk for WellnessHouse for several years, this year's walk is especially heartfelt for me as I lost my Father last July. I am still planning to walk in his honor, just not in the traditional way. The walk can provide participants and their families with a sense of empowerment. I anticipate this walk to be highly emotional for me as it will be both a celebration and a memorial. This year's #NeverWalkAlone Walk for Wellness House celebrates 30 years of changing lives-past, present and future. I plan to support this walk to the best of my ability so that Wellness House can sustain programming now and in the future, so that people affected by cancer will #NeverWalkAlone!
