I Am Walking for Wellness House. Here's Why:

4 years ago, my Uncle John was diagnosed with Multiple Myleoma after my family and I noticed him getting much more winded than a man of his physical activity level should have been while on a family trip, hiking at Starved Rock State Park. The past 4 years, I have watched him, my aunt and my cousins work together through fighting this disease. We've always had to be careful for holidays, asking "Hugs today?" so as to not excessivly expose him to any illness we may be carrying with his weakened immune system. He inspires me daily to live life to the fullest and be courageous. Now that another uncle has been diagnosed, this time with Prostate Cancer, I feel that it's time for me to step up and do my part to raise funding and awareness for the assistance that Wellness House offers to patients and their families.
No matter how someone has been affected by cancer — maybe they've been diagnosed have a family member who’s living with cancer, or are a caregiver — you're welcome at Wellness House. Learn new skills, get information, and join others when you take classes, practice healthful living, reduce stress, and more.
In response to the coronavirus pandemic, Wellness House quickly adapted programming to be accessible online. People affected by cancer are continuing to access the life-changing programs from the comfort and safety of their homes.
You can't put a price on what Wellness House provides. So we don't. Thanks to the generosity of individuals, foundations and corporations like you that provide gifts to Wellness House, there's absolutely no charge for all programs and services.
I am participating in the Walk for Wellness House because I know how important support and community is for people impacted by cancer, and I want to ensure their access to the life-changing programs and services at Wellness House.
I hope you will join me by making a donation to help me reach my fundraising goals, but more importantly to help people affected by cancer in our community.
Thank you!
