Yes I Ken
Hello Family & Friends –
In May of 2014, just short of a year after Ken’s diagnosis and 8 months before he passed away, he was determined to support and run the Northwestern Memorial Hospital’s Cancer Survivor 5K. On a picture perfect day we joined 100’s of runners, family & friends along Lake Michigan to celebrate both survivors and those still fighting. To this day I am still in awe of his strength, courage and determination to not just finish but to finish strong….never stopping to walk, get a drink or catch his breath.
On May 6th, Team “Yes I Ken” will join together for the annual Wellness House Walk - an organization that is extremely important to us. As some of you know, our family was introduced to Wellness House about a year after Ken's diagnosis. Throughout our journey, both during Ken’s fight and since his passing, the Staff and Programs have been a key reason that Mac and Maeve as well as myself have been able to navigate this unchartered territory of cancer and what it takes to “survive”.
No matter how someone has been affected by cancer — maybe they've been diagnosed, have a family member who’s living with cancer, or are a caregiver — everyone is welcome at Wellness House. There, they can learn new skills, get information, and join others when taking classes, practice healthful living, reduce stress, and more. All Wellness House programs and services are led by experts, designed to help participants feel better, at no cost to patients and their families. They offer more than 300 programs every month!
We hope you can join Team "Yes I Ken" on May 6th. Thank you so very much for all of your support! I promise it will be a day to remember! Bring the kids!
