Heard of Zebras?
Welcome to our Team Page!
The welcoming and encouraging feeling starts the moment you join the Wellness House family. You will find you feel less alone, more informed, and more empowered to take on the challenge of facing cancer.
Why ZEBRAS? As a patient with a rare cancer, Neuroendocrine Carcinoid Cancer, I found a wonderful support group at the Wellness House. The Neuroendocrine Cancer Foundation has adopted the Zebra as it's mascot for this cancer. This is because in medical school students are taught, "When you hear hoof beats, think horses not Zebras." Physicians are taught to focus on the most likely of possibilities NOT the unusual ones. In the case of this rare disease, physicians need to look for a Zebra! Neuroendocrine Carcinoid Cancer is often misdiagnosed for years as Crohn's Disease and/or Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). This delay in diagnosis contributes to tumor metastasis.
Our support group has brought peace of mind to so many Neuroendocrine Cancer paients and their caregivers! We are here to spread the word that the Wellness House is a healing place for so many. I hope you find it in your heart to support this worthwhile cause.
